Meet the Staff
Roy has been a Senior Pastor for more than twenty years and has been at Miamisburg First Church of God since 2007. He was 32 when he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Eight years later he left his secular career to enter Anderson School of Theology and received his Masters of Divinity.
Roy’s passion is expressed through his life verse: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20
Roy believes it is vitally important to communicate God’s Word in ways that everyone can understand. He states, “God has used my life experiences to give me a unique perspective for teaching and preaching the gospel. Living 32 years without Christ, working in a secular career for over twenty years, and even navigating through all those years as an unbelieving husband and father and then learning to be a Christian husband and father has helped me see both sides of the faith equation. God has used this to help me relate to those seeking to understand how to walk in faith.”
Roy is married to his first and only love, the Reverend Sharon Maxwell. They have two sons and thirteen grandchildren.
Music and Worship Arts Pastor
Having grown up singing in church since the age of 3, Cynthia has led others in worshiping God her entire life. Having been a Worship Arts Pastor for more than 17 years, Cynthia has a strong calling to help bring people into the life-changing presence of God through music and other arts.
Cynthia’s love of the arts includes singing, playing instruments, poetry, technology, graphic arts, and dance. She is passionate about incorporating different artistic elements into corporate and personal times of worship. Not only does she enjoy leading worship on Sunday mornings, but she also enjoys the opportunities she has to serve at youth camps, women’s retreats, and camp meetings.
Cynthia and her husband Michael have four beautiful children and have served at Miamisburg First Church of God since 2011.
Tween and Youth Pastor
Treves has been in ministry for almost 15 years, serving in various ways. He has pioneered such ministries as the Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, and Adopt-A-Block. Treves was the director of Upward Basketball for 10 years, a ministry that grew from 50 kids the first year to over 700 kids with multiple locations by the 10th year.
Treves accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his early 30's. It was at this point he realized that God had given him a love and passion for the younger generations. He believes that the youth need to understand the importance of a strong foundation in life, and that foundation is Jesus Christ. He wants the youth to know that they are not the church of the future, they are the church of TODAY, with the opportunity to build a strong future in the life of the church.
Treves is married to who he calls God's gift to him, and his best friend, Tracy. They have four children and five grandchildren.
Patricia "Trish" Foor
Children’s Ministry Director
Trish became a follower and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 16 years old. Her first stirrings to be used in children’s ministry and her deep passion for children began shortly after the birth of her first child.
Soon after becoming an Assistant Sunday School teacher, Trish found herself leading the Sunday evening children’s service at Good Ship Zion Chuch. In addition to work in a daycare center as an afternoon Pre-K teacher and a teacher for elementary aged children in an after school program, Trish has served in the Pioneer Girl’s Program and Caraway Street – a puppetry and drama group for elementary aged children.
Trish’s favorite verse comes from Matthew 19:14 - Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Trish joined the staff of Miamisburg First church of God in June, 2013, after volunteering in the Awana Program for 2 years. Trish has 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
